East End Arts Announces Open Call for Street Painting Artists, Fine ...

East End Arts? 17th Annual Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival: May 26, 2013

(RIVERHEAD, NY) ?? East End Arts is pleased to announce an open call for artist participation at the 17th Annual Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival to be held Sunday, May 26, 2013, from 12PM to 5PM in downtown Riverhead, NY. This beloved annual fun-for-the-whole-family festival includes street painting on East Main Street, fine arts & crafts market of local artists and artisans, live music and entertainment, family activities, face painting, a drum circle, dance, gourmet food trucks, and more. This call is open to all artists to exhibit and sell their work in the fine arts & crafts market, as well as for artists to participate in the street painting activities. This event draws over 5,000 local residents and tourists to downtown Riverhead for this Memorial Day Weekend tradition where families and friends, artists, musicians, and lovers of the arts, young and old, enjoy the creative spirit together. All activities take place in downtown Riverhead on East Main Street, between Roanoke Ave and East Street, and on the grounds of East End Arts (133 and 141 East Main Street.) This event is sponsored by Bridgehampton National Bank.

More Information for Fine Artisan & Crafts Vendors

East End Arts invites professional artists and craftspeople to submit photos of their original work for consideration for the fine art and craft sale held outdoors. Arts and crafts of fine quality that are priced for a family event are recommended. Artisans of homemade goods such as soaps, potpourri, jams, etc. are encouraged to display and sell their wares. Artists and artisans may reserve a 10? x 10? space for a $50 for EEA members or $150 for non-members. Display setup, which begins at 9AM the day of the event, and removing the artwork (no earlier than 5PM), will be the responsibility of the artists. Popup tents, tables and chairs will not be provided. All sales transactions are between the artist and purchaser and the artists are responsible for sales-tax permits. There are no commissions taken by East End Arts on sales of artwork and crafts. Registration deadline: May 15, 2013. More Information for Street Painting Artists

?I Madonnari? is a street painting art form dating back to 16th Century Italy, where street painters created works of art in front of cathedrals to pay homage to the Virgin Mary. Street painters that are over the age of 14 are encouraged to register in advance. Pre-registered street painters will be matched with a sponsored square on a first-come-first-serve basis. Chalk and blending materials are provided. It is recommended that street painters bring kneepads and a hat. Artwork must be suitable for public viewing. No words or symbols intended as advertising may appear within the image, however artists may sign their names. If the square is sponsored, the sponsor?s name will appear above the space. Street painting squares are given on a first-come basis. Street painters who pre-register will be notified of acceptance prior to the event. Street painters agree that work done in conjunction with this festival may be reproduced by photograph or video and used by the East End Arts for promotional purposes.
