OLD BRIDGE, NJ (PIX11)?

When lights flash in the rearview mirror after being caught on the phone, a 'thank you' may not be the first choice words that come to mind, but for a New Jersey mayor he only has praise for the officer that handed him a $100 summons.

Old Bridge Mayor Owen Henry was on his way into a municipal complex when he was pulled over on Tuesday.? The Star-Ledger of Newark reported that Henry admitted he was wrong and agreed to pay the fine, but not before thanking the officer and complimenting his observational skills.

"I was wrong. I apologized for putting him in that situation," Henry said yesterday. "I'm going to pay the ticket online.

In New Jersey it?s against the law to talk or text on cellphones and drive.? Henry said that he normally uses a hands-free device, but he must have taken it out of his car.
