Undeclared Milk Forces Recall of Coconut Candy

In a news statement, Fung Shing International Corp, in association with and in compliance with the rules and regulations of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), announced the voluntary recall of their Star Light Coconut Candy because of an undeclared presence of milk, a common allergen.

This recall applies to all un-coded, 7-ounce plastic dishes of Star Light Coconut Candy Keo Dua with a UPC code of 8936015503088. The recall was initiated after Fung Shing discovered that a routine sampling obtained by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food inspectors was analyzed by the staff of the Food Laboratory. The Food Laboratory revealed the presence of milk in the coconut candy, however milk is not included as an ingredient on the products? labeling. Consumers with allergies or a serious sensitivity to milk products have a greater risk of experiencing severe or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product. No reports of illness have been received in association with this recall.

Consumers with milk allergies are being advised to return the candy to the place of purchase.

As a York personal injury attorney, I?ve witnessed this sort of recall several times in the course of my career and I know the serious illnesses that can come of the consumption of mislabeled food products. If you?ve suffered adverse health effects due to the handling or consumption of a mislabeled or otherwise defective food product, speak with a harrisburg personal injury lawyer to discuss your rights as a consumer.
