TiffsPixieDust: Book Review and Giveaway: 101 Offline Activities

It's summer time and my kids are glued to their TVs, Nintendo DSs, computers, and any other electronic device they can get their hands on.? Looking for something for the kids to do that doesn't require batteries or electric, I have found a book to help. 101 Offline Activities You Can Do With Your Child is packed full of things to do.

Things have changed a lot since I was younger. There was no handheld games or computers to play on. I'm not even showing age, because I'm only 30. When I was little, we left the house in the morning and came home for snacks and dinner. Playing involved trees and dirt. I've even said to myself that I want to make my kids have more of a similar childhood, but it's just easier to give in at times with the days of technology.
The kids have their noses in their handheld games or at the TV or computers. I'm not any better with my smartphone checking it every 5 minutes with emails and updates. I've even turned over to the kindle instead of reading actual books, so I have no room to speak in that regard.

I do make a concious effort to get away from the technology and do things together with the kids as much as possible. That's where this book comes in. There are some really cute ideas that are for kids of all ages. Even if you made it a point to do one thing a day, the book will last you all summer with 101 activities to do.
I love their idea for making an oversized checker board out of paper plates and art supplies and the activities that require only your imagination like Foodcasters where you child pretends like a newscaster and does commentary as you cook and Off-the-Cuff where your child does a speech on any topic or item off the cuff. There are activities that require things you keep around the house and ones you can do on-the-go in the car or in the waiting room like a doctor's office.

The book is small enough to keep in your bag. If you have a mommy bag like mine, it probably contains all kinds of things and this book fits right in with the change of socks, wipies, snacks, etc.

You can buy it on Amazon in paperback and for your Kindle.
