Derrick Ward rolls ankle in Week 1 - Fantasy Sports

InjuryPrecautionary move opens door for Tate's big day

Derrick Ward carried 11 times for 39 yards and a touchdown of his own before he "rolled" his ankle in the second quarter, but he insisted later he could have continued to play had it been necessary. "It was just precautionary," Ward said. "We were already up 34-zip. It scared me a little bit when it happened, but I'm all right. I'll be ready for Miami (on the road Sunday), and we'll be happy to get Arian back this week." If they don't get Foster back and if Ward himself is hurt worse than he thinks, the Texans can call on Ben Tate, then still have Steve Slaton two carries for 12 yards Sunday - in reserve. (Houston Chronicle)

FF Today's Take: Irony is running deep in Houston's backfield nowadays. Tate suffered ankle and leg injuries during the 2010 preseason, opening the door for Arian Foster's breakout season. Tate then suffered a hamstring injury early in this camp. He has since recovered and benefitted from Ward's ankle injury and Foster's hamstring woes. On the upside, Ward's words seem to suggest he feels Foster will be back in Week 2.
