Mixed Martial Arts Fighters | Articles Bright

In order to become an effective and world renowned MMA fighter you need to have dedication, drive, an incredible level of personal fitness, your art refined to an extent to where it becomes second nature and a desire to become the best. Those listed below have achieved this and are as such quite rightly renowned as being the best in the world.

1: Georges St. Pierre:

The UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre is widely recognised as being the best Mixed Martial Arts fighter in the world. His list of victories is a feat in itself and for anyone to beat him consistently would be in most people?s view, a near impossible achievement. Canadian by birth and born in 1981 Georges quickly rose to fame within UFC circles. His style mainly focuses around Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kyokushin and Boxing and he has had numerous high profile victories over the years. Unfortunately due to a commitment to represent Canada at wrestling in the 2012 Olympics in London Georges St. Pierre recently announced he was taking a break from UFC, whether this will be a permanent move remains to be seen.

2: Anderson Silva:

Anderson Silva enjoys almost the same degree of worldwide popularity as Georges St. Pierre. Born in 1975, Anderson is a Brazilian MMA fighter specialising in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Taekwondo, Muay Thai and Boxing. In early 2009 Silva made the press headlines when he signalled his desire to arrange a boxing match between himself and Roy Jones Jnr. in a bid to prove that MMA fighters have technical ability, however this proposed fight was vetoed by UFC executives in order to avoid injury. Silva has an extremely efficient fighting technique and excels in three key areas ? his technical ability, the jab and general movement, and it is for these reasons that he is rightly regarded as being at the pinnacle of his profession.

3: Fedor Emelianenko:

Fedor was born in Russia in 1976 and is a heavyweight fighter with numerous tournament titles to his name, including Pride 2004 and the World Combat Sambo on numerous occasions in the past few years. He specialises in Jambo, Judo and Boxing and has had an incredibly successful fighting career. Despite winning the majority of his fights with relative ease he has recently been defeated in his last 3 fixtures which has led to a certain amount of criticism being levelled at Emelianenko. This being said, there is no doubt in the minds of many that he will bounce back with notable victories in the future.

Of course those listed above represent just a small selection of the best MMA fighters in the world and contenders such as Penn, Couture, Griffin and Faber are by no means of a far lesser quality than those discussed in the article above. However, Emelianenko, Silva and Pierre are perhaps some of the most consistent fighters and this combined with their refined techniques puts them slightly above their peers.
