NFL announces 9/11 tributes for Week One - Fantasy Sports

The NFL announced its plans for the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the first Sunday of the season.

Thirteen games will be played that day, and all will feature a special video introduction, followed by a performance of "Taps" that will air on TV and on stadium video boards. For the 1:00 p.m. ET games, the performance will be held in Shanksville, Pa., the site of the Flight 93 crash on Sept. 11, 2001. For the 4:15 ET games, Arlington National Cemetery will be the host. And prior to the "Sunday Night Football" game between the Cowboys and Jets, "Taps" will be played from Hoboken, NJ, which is directly across the Hudson River from Ground Zero.

There will also be a special pregame video, aired simultaneously on CBS and FOX, before the early games kick off. NBC, which airs the night game, also will be airing a tribute.

Players, coaches and sideline personnel will wear a special NFL 9/11 ribbon as a patch or pin on their uniforms and sideline apparel. All stadiums hosting games on Sept. 11 will feature the ribbon logo on the field.
